'How to Use Corpora in Language Education'
an IATEFL Computer Special Interest Group event
VENUE: Harrow Campus,
University of Westminster, London
DATE: Saturday 27th November 1999
TIME: 10:00 - 17:00 (registration from 9:00)
This will be a mainly hands-on event aimed at introducing the use of corpora
to language teaching professionals. It is ideal both for those who ask 'What
do you mean by "corpora"?' and for those who have heard something about
corpora, concordancing or data driven learning but would have no idea how to
actually use these in their teaching. For this very practical event there
are 60 networked PCs, all with very fast internet access, available for the
whole day. Delegates will have the chance to use a variety of types of
software and on-line access with different corpora in order to develop
skills in corpus handling. It is hoped that by the end of the day each
delegate will have created some teaching or research materials tailored to
their particular situation or interest.
